If you want to combine a game drive in the Nairobi National Park with art and a good coffee in hand-blown glasses, this is the place for you:

www.kitengela.com and www.kitengelaglassart.com

However, this highlight can also be organized independently of a visit to the national park.

You can spend easily 2-3 hours visiting the workshops and the glass art on the compound.

If you want to blow something out of glass yourself, you shall book this in advance!

We have visited this beautiful place and will come back again.

Our children were also fascinated and have combined knowledge with play.

Kenya closes 5 counties!

A decisive step… now we are back to homeschooling and our hotels are only allowed to offer take away and serve house guests.

We had taken three steps in the direction of quiet success, now we have turned around again.
Send some employees home, downsizing the team.
The days MUST be filled with ‘tasks’ so that everyone can do something for their daily bread.

Back to farming. At least for the next few weeks and until the rainy season starts.

Giving up? Not us!
Today is Palm Sunday….

Easter is approaching. Perhaps some local guests dare to leave Nairobi and join us here in Naivasha to marvel at the zebras and eland antelopes near Mwanzo Lodge. After all, we have the animals right here in front of the door!

Wishing a good pre-Easter week to all of you.

Yours, Heike

P.S .: the rain is coming – the landscape has dried up! Dust stirs up with every step.
And yet Africa enchants every morning at sunrise, whispering softly: Hope dies last!

The National Museum of Kenya in Nairobi not only holds a lot of information about animals, nature, culture and prehistory, but also the history of Kenya and Joy Adamson’s portraits of the various tribes.

A visit to the adjoining snake parkand a good coffee in the museum garden round off the day in downtown Nairobi.

Today was World Story Telling & Poem Day.

An entertaining program with lots of traditional stories, music, dancing and fun for children.

Everything taking into account COVID standards with disinfection, masks and distance for visitors.

Have a good week everyone and we look forward to reporting more to you next week.

The Ngong Forest in Nairobi – hardly anyone knows it!

Only by chance we came across it, because not far from the Hotel Rudi in Karen we just wanted to walk through nature for an hour.

One hour turned into two with the children.
However, it can be shorter.

A ‘gem’ between Karen and the bypass towards Mombasa Road/Nairobi.
A piece of unspoilt nature on the outskirts.

It felt good – everyone had a lot of fun!

Happy Sunday to you all….

Yours, Heike/Mama Sofia
P.S .: After jogging uphill and downhill for 1.5 hours this morning (got lost!), my legs are ready for the sofa after the walk today!

Bush Adventure looks into the future!

The ‘COVID year’ is behind us and over the last few days we have worked out in our workshop with our management team what needs to be improved and changed.

Dorcas, Duncan, Ledama, Heike & Olaf will surprise you with many ‘Bush Adventure Stories‘ over the next few months.

Many ideas have been collected, which we are now implementing for you…
We are looking forward to your visit here in Kenya and soon again in Tanzania!

East Africa is so much more than just nature and wildlife.
We have authentic encounters with people and many insider tips on the program. Art and nature in combination, active hikes and exercise in the bush without high performance, bird watching, safaris for women, family fun with the Masai & Samburu, African cooking course and much, much more …

Feel freedom – refresh your soul!

And continous!

The Eburu Forest is still an insider tip and completely untouristy – today we hiked through it once more.

The very wild part of Naivasha is always beautiful at hot temperatures.
Our children also enjoy the shady trees and a refreshing breeze on this natural hike.

The volcanic landscape surprises with hot springs – a ‘natural sauna’ – and with domestic trees and a wonderful view over Lake Naivasha.

The path is easy to hike and, depending on how long you want to walk, there are different routes (day hike or 3-4 hours).

It was dusty!

But we all sat together afterwards with a refreshing ice cream at sunset and said once more: It was great!

It’s time to go to the campfire: stargazing!

From now on there is more about our activities during Corona time in Kenya – click regularly on our blog here.

We are happy about everyone who takes part in our lives and hope that we soon can organize your adventure again.

Have a nice Sunday and see you again soon – Heike & Olaf with families.

We welcome 2021 and hope to welcome also many guests again to Kenya and East Africa and to be able to carry out many safaris. We wish everyone a year full of health, joy, satisfaction and many great travel experiences!
